Talked about this with the others…
The group and I are put in a difficult situation with this generous donation. On the one hand, while we can make use of it- it doesn’t feel right. And if our fans are going to donate to the group, it should be for the benefit of the company- not just for the…Maybe I’ll go into my own medical problems and debt in a post in the future, but that’s not really important right now.
Everything my brother stated is correct.
Helping us out individually does not look good for the company and it’s fandom and it’s not like we have some giant medical expense that we can’t afford. Health insurance isn’t super expensive and doctor visits are totally plausible with our current financial standings.
Support us by going through Steam Powered Giraffe. Buy our CDs, albums, DVD, and other merchandise. Get your local event or convention interested in us so we can get hired to play.
These are all acceptable forms of support that no one will have a problem with. :)
Your support is always greatly appreciated and we do take notice. Obviously the fact that the donations went so high with this thing over night shows a bunch of heart from the community.
On one last note…donations like this are probably better used towards other crowd funding things like…”Getting SPG’s travel expenses covered so they can play the Steampunk Convention in Kalamazoo, Stateington”…or “Get SPG to play some odd shows in Europe”…things like that. Those would still directly effect our own individual financial levels positively vicariously through the company.
And on that note, you can bet that we’d create/sanction fans to do something “official” for any crowd funding like that.

She made her decision. If she doesn’t want to accept the donation, that’s fine. There are oodles of other ways to support the group and when the company makes money, she makes money. So I suggest go buy some merch from the store! Donate directly to them!
