Finished something for my animation class! This was a character design exercise, where we had to pick a creature of myth and folklore, and come up with our own design for it.

I was inspired by more cartoon aspects and less realism for my Kelpie. Its color scheme is supposed to be reminiscent of a dark, swampy lake at night. 

Instead of the standard horse mane, I used the “mane” of a leafy sea dragon.

I really enjoyed working with a limited color scheme! I think all of them together really tie down a mood, as opposed to having too many colors, and no clear feel of the character.
